@400dls i had the same problem. If you are really good at taking shit apart and doing all that, then go to radioshack and replace the capacitors, they are probably worn out. Same thing happens with other HDTV's. :)

@adam3176 I know this is an old comment, but I am having the same problem too, as shown in this video. Are you saying there is something I can do INTERNALLY to fix this problem?(I am not electronics savy at all....lol). I can't really afford to buy another TV ,but my warranty has expired for this one.

mine does the same thing. 1 yr ago spent $150 to get it fixed they told me the capacitors had blown. anyway about 1 month ago it stopped working again, same problem. only this time im not wasting my money to have it fixed when it will probably just blow again.

Easy fix.. They put undervolt capacitors in the thing.. they get hot after about 2 three years they buldge then POP.. There are three of them in a row on the board. they are 16v 1000uf They should be Upped to 25volts.. But replace any that have a bulged top on it

stupid akai i just bought a new lcd tv crap quality feels like its made by people that doesnt care. the remote control is not even working and i payed 300$ seriously im going to bring this piece of crap back to the store and get my money. never ever buy a tv from akai . BTW their website is terrible no customer service badly made its CRAP. screw it im going to buy samsung or philips.
