You know Frances -- the sassy badger who loves bread and jam a little too much, gently tricks her badger pal, Albert, into realizing she's best-friend material, and can think up a lengthy song about well, just about anything?

Well, hold on to your Chompo Bars. PBS KIDS Sprout, the all-preschool-TV-all-the-time channel, is premiering Frances on Friday, June 20, to launch its Summer Fun Fridays, in which two Sprout miniseries air from noon to 3 pm ET. The show's state-of-the-art digital puppetry and animation comes courtesy of The Jim Henson Company (yes, that Jim Henson) and HIT Entertainment, the creative geniuses behind that guy, Bob, who likes to build things.

Stay tuned to the STA blog for more Frances updates next week!

  • @Globez123 - totally agree. They ruined the look of Frances with this plastic looking , robotic CG animation. The charm of the original Lillian Hoban illustrations should have been animated with hand drawn animation.

  • Gloria has always made me laugh. XD She sounds so stupid!

  • why would they turn these amazing books into an awful show?

  • you know, there's a whole mash up you could do with this show and the honey badger. I'm just sayin....

  • This is the most obnoxious children's' cartoon of all time. Barf.

  • harray harray for me uhhh thumbs up if she is selfish

  • it is very clear to see that frances has schizophrenia after watching this whole movie on netflix...

  • YES SHE IS A BADGER

my family said that she was a raccoon and a skunk but i knew it was a badger

  • We enjoyed reading all these to our kids, including a Frances. We made up our own tunes for the songs. Once a substitute pediatrician asked us, after we introduced Frances to him: "Frances? Like the badger?"
