This video contains pictures of the Grundy High School Band from Tracy City Tennessee from 1967-1971 under the direction of Rex Tate. GCHS is blessed to have Rex back starting the band all over again. Hopefully, this video will bring back some good memories to all of those who loved being in the band, and will be an inspiration to those who want to make the band successful again. The background music is from an award winning, all superior ratings performance at the Southeastern States Marching Band Festival in Troy Alabama on November 7, 1970. Unfortunately, it was recorded from the band side of the field, as the band was playing toward the spectator side. However, you can still tell we were pretty good. As a result of this performance, the GCHS Band was invited to perform in the Sugar Bowl Parade the following January. The music was recorded on a reel-to-reel recorder owned by Anthony Dishroom. Thanks to Anthony for providing that tape which is a true piece of history for the GCHS band.
