My dad flew over from New Zealand (not thinking steely Dan will ever come here) and went to see them in LA. 1 month after he got back they announced the tour to New Zealand :) I just recently saw them in their latest tour in New Zealand, i thought it was amazing, but my dad said it was nothing compared to the concerts in america. You guys that live there are truly lucky!!

@pbyardh He is the one in middle with the blue guitar! Doctor Becker who doesn't miss a chord.
-
I don't see Walter - this must be Don's solo tour back then. Group is all same SD together these days - not a bad thing! It was a great show in Boston the Opera House.

Obviously the director of this film wasn't aware of what an extraordinairy musical moment he was working on - or how could s.o. explain the fact that (after almost 30 years !!!) Mike McDonald is in the picture for perhaps 4 sec of the whole video ??
Having him together on stage with the Dan singing THIS song on backings in 2006 would have deserved more appreciation... nothing against the 2 girls, but in this case...

@wrdeboise That is Keith Carlock on drums. He's toured with the band since 2003. He's on tour with John Mayer this summer. That is Jon Herington on lead guitar. He's been working with the band for about 12 years now. He's a really nice guy too. I've had the chance to meet him.

@llamedica Is that Carlock? I wasn't sure since this is pretty old. Who's the guitarist? Not Becker, the other guy.
-
That is one monster groove by Carlock! Just as legendary as the original.

I love this. Thank you for posting.

drhey, where do you get videos like this???
I'd really love to have this particular show on dvd!

I always thought it was Larry Carlton's solo as his song "Room 335" is essentially an instrumental version of this track.
This reminds me of an ex of mine - always will raise a tear or two - such a well put together song. Would give my right arm to write a song as good as this...

I was a high school senior when this came out. Still love the song today--30 years later.
