Bobbie Gentry - Another Place Another Time

This was recorded off the "Macon County Line" movie credits. It is not the whole song. Lyrics are below.

Artist: Gentry Bobbie
Song: Another Place, Another Time
Album: Chickasaw County Child

Another place, another time
Another song, another rhyme
Is it so wrong to wish it so?
The seasons come, the seasons go
Another year, another day
So long ago, and far away....

There was a time when we could do anything
With a brown paper bag and piece of string
Go for a ride, we'd put the car-top down
Somehow we'd end up in another town
Funny how things can turn themselves around

There was a time when we could go anywhere
And not have to worry 'bout things when we got there
We used to think the world was doin' fine
Travelin' below that Macon County Line
Funny how people can be so unkind

There was a time when we could be anyone
A time when things were good and life was fun
When I met you, it was my lucky day
Didn't have time to say what I wanted to say
Sure gonna miss you when you go away

  • Bad sound quality but great song anyway!

  • @danielrdrown Yes, we must be. I've been trying to get Bobbie Gentry inducted into The Nashville Songwriters Hall Off Fame. Everyone agrees she should be included but there is concern she would not show up for an induction ceremony. My arguement is induct her on her musical merits and contributions. The rest is irrelevant.

  • @danielrdrown I remember that peformance too, Bobbie playing an old upright piano. You and I must be two of her biggest fans ever. A crime to not include the last verse. Another piece of great music.

  • Too bad Brunswick Records hacked the song in half for the single. I heard Bobbie sing the full version on her summer replacement series on cbs in 1974. Great song.

  • Thanks for posting. Love this song and the movie. Tasty.
