lol @ philli, dude, pretty sure they are logging. everyone knows topping a tree is not good, but it has to be done.. (powerlines etc.)

why do they top trees for a spar on a yarder why not leave the tree whole and fall it later?

That cutter was most likely topping it to make a spar tree for cable logging,or clearing some space for a nearby powerline or ski lift etc.
