My Letter on "Late Night with David Letterman"

On November 17, 1989, a letter I wrote was featured on Late Night with David Letterman. The ensuing skit featured Tony Randall, who, in that era, was the spokesman for Eagle Snacks and often brought them along when he appeared on Dave's show.

Did they tell you beforehand that they were featuring your letter or was it a total surprise?

It was a total surprise. The first I knew of it was my sister calling in the middle of the night. Of course, Dave was on a different network in those days. Things may have changed since then.
