Petition PE1388 closed 08 March 2011 for repeal of Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1980

The Scottish Parliament closed this petition, MSP Robin Harper for the Green Party told the Petitions Committee Consumer Focus Scotland issued a qualified support for self regulation of the legal profession (lawyers investigating themselves) as it brings some benefits to consumers.

However, most consumers & particularly clients of solicitors seem to feel the legal profession should be independently regulated ...
