In a remarkable video from 1978, 28 year old MIT grad Benjamin Netanyahu debates whether there should be a Palestinian state created on the West Bank and Gaza. Netanyahu argues that such a state would have but one goal: to destroy the Jewish state of Israel. He reviews the history from 1948 to 1967, when Gaza was controlled by Egypt and the West Bank by Jordan and there were no calls to end the occupation, or for national sovereignty for the Palestinians.

But one thing was similar in that period and today: terror attacks against Israeli Jews. Netanyahu went by the name of Benjamin Nitay at the time. His brother, Yonatan was an Israeli commando who led the Entebbe raid on July 4, 1976 during which he died. Netanyahu chose to use the name Nitay at MIT, where he was one year behind me, in large part for security reasons due to his brother's notoriety and the spate of Palestinian terror attacks aimed at Israelis all over the world.

Nothing much has changed in the ME, except the Arabs have become more obdurate, having successfuly killed many more people, mostly their own. If Arab treat each other so badly what will they do to Jews? If human rights are so shoddily observed among themselves, what should Jews expect? If judea and Samaria come under the same rule as the Gaza Strip, how safe will Jews feel living right next to them? I knew Jewish safety is not your priority, but it is mine, and Bibi's.

This was especially challenging since the Uganda’s dictator Idi Amin welcomed the terrorists and Ugandan soldiers helped them. The Israelis commandos unloaded a Mercedes and two Land Rovers hoping to convince the terrorists that they were Amin or another high ranking Ugandan official. Close to the terminal, they were discovered by Ugandan guards. The Israelis then stormed the building and killed the hijackers.

As they withdrew, the Israelis destroyed 11 Ugandan MiG-17 fighters.

The operation is widely considered one of the greatest and most daring special forces operations in history, considering the high risk nature of the commando raid, distance from home territory and casualty and hostage rescue ratio.

On 27 June 1976, an Air France plane with 248 passengers was hijacked by Palestinian and German terrorists and flown to Entebbe, Uganda. Shortly after landing, all non-Israeli passengers, except one, were released. The hijackers' threatened to kill the hostages if their demands were not met. A rescue operation was planned. A week later, at night, 100 Israeli commandos landed in Uganda. The operation lasted 90 mins. & 102 hostages were rescued.

Bibi's brother was a commander of the elite Israeli army commando unit Sayeret Matkal. He was killed in action during Operation Entebbe in Uganda.
