When our dive boat reaches a wreck to dive, the divemaster has to jump in and swim a line down to the wreck and tie off. Then the dive boat on the surface ties off to this line which provides a ascent / descent line for the scuba divers. This is called "dive-bombing" a wreck. It's not always easy and depends upon the several conditions such as current, visibility and the captain's ability to get over the wreck so the divemaster can hit it.
