This 5 minute video clip captures the spirit of the HULL FREEDOM TRAIL, an anti-slavery initiative of 24 ordinary people from Hull (UK). In November 2007 they drove five 4x4 vehicle from the UK to Sierra Leone and donated the cars to humanitarian organisations who are looking after former child soldiers, sex slaves, orphans and street children.

Raising awareness about modern forms of slavery is the second mission of the Hull Freedom Trail team. In April 2008 they will publish a book on www.lulu.com about their life changing experiences. They will also release a TV documentary series, which was filmed and directed by Claudio von Planta who was DOP of Long Way Round (2004) and Long Way Down (2007) with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman)

  • This is an important and thought provoking video. It inspires each of us to really see what is going on and invites us to take action. Watching it broke my heart and, yet, I could see so much beauty and courage in those who spoke. Thank you.

  • This is an important and thought provoking video. It inspires us to look more closely at what is going on all around us and then, at the end, there is a nudge for us to take action. Very moving. I loved it even though it breaks my heart to see it. Very inspiring. Thank you for making it.

  • Absolutely horrific to think that this is going on in our world under our noses. It's documentaries like this which bring issues like this to people's attention and in that regard you have delivered an extremely moving and sensitively made film.

  • this is a briliant job, unlike ones i have watched that are obviously stage managed
