It seems it would be much more advantageous to stay in England where there are a lot more people to steal from, rather than be out in a wilderness with only a few animals and indians to steal from. An intelligent theif doesn't make himself a hermit on an isolated continent, sacrificing their homes and riches in order to steal from the howling wolves and natives who, knowing the land, had an advantage.
