cheaper, yes or maybe; easier or quicker, no. i've been training for a while and i've stayed at my 180 +or- 2 for 6+ mos. now and can't seem to get any lower. i guess you could consider the price of lipo vs. carbon wheels??
great vid!! you don't get too many videos that cover all the aspects of the race. except for having a helmet cam, it's good coverage.
i wonder how many tubes don't hold up the trials of the cobblestone alley? just a few more months!

@tawilk Wouldn't it be cheaper to lose 5 lbs of fat though? Great video here

keeping everything equal, it does make you faster to have light equip. i'd rather try & pull a 15 lb. bike up that alley vs a 25 lb. but, to spend that kind of $ when you're a beginner racer is not smart. one random crash and there goes a few months salary.
maybe there's just some really good salesmen out there. 'yes, you can go much faster and win a race if you put up $7k in equipment... sign here.'
anyway, the course looks fun and i look forward to heading west and trying it this year.
there's something messed up w/ the categories, when you have the first cat 5 up the hill spinning $2000+/piece wheels.

@tawilk Tell me about it! My bike cost $700 and I'm racing in an ENTRY LEVEL race against guys riding pro level equipment. Not that it makes them faster...because it doesn't, but it shows how much money people are willing to invest to make up for the time that they don't invest.
