A rare video of sitar maestro Krishna Mohan Bhatt. This is from the annual "New Harmonies" concert in Jaipur, India. This unique festival, curated by Pandit Bhatt, features classical and folk artists from all over Rajasthan.

He is joined by award-winning tabla virtuoso Suphala. Together they play a short rendition of Raag Misra Piloo.

  • I hear you. As a guitarist for 20+ yrs in America,I'm just getting into Indian Classical music and feel like a kid discovering music all over. The music celebrated here is an embarassment. Im not a hater, I like everything from pop to metal...but this is something WAY DEEPER. No turning back.

  • GREAT WONDERFUL

  • the orange red lighting is sooo nice, u should add a blue light too!!111

  • Comparing styles of music is like comparing religions. It's an argument that has no significance, no meaning, and suggests an arrogance that runs counter to what making music is all about. That being said, you should know that many of the jazz greats have a deep respect and appreciation for Indian classical music. Miles Davis recorded several albums featuring raga forms and Indian musicians. And of course we can't forget the profound influence it had on Coltrane.

  • If you don't understand why, don't call others who do "crazy."

  • The only musical idiom that can compete with Western classical for depth and beauty. For more on YouTube search for "raga."
