Yay, you guys! I love to see fellow fire tribes at play.
And yes, the local media are always fascinated and a little bit frightened, which is funny to us insiders.

Personally, I thought this was a great feature. In any media piece on an artist (with the exception maybe of mainstream music acts of any genre, not counting Bjork ;p) the artist, to a non-artist, comes off as a weirdo. I don't think it's a situation specific to this spot, it's a cultural thing. As in mainstream American culture.

if i was a non fire performer watching this I'd think you were a bunch of weirdo's. I think I dislike this media spot a lot.

yes, but don't you want people to sign up for your school?

Of course I do. :) Everyone who is interested in the journey of Self will be compelled by our radical self expression which is, ultimately, an invitation to notice there is often more than meets the eye to a given situation.

maybe it's the other coast thing. I've never been to your area but I'm pretty sure if you tried to answer "wouldn't that be painful?" with "it feels good" you're not going to get the crowd you want, especially if you look at the demographics that a morning show brings. Also instead of explaining how the prop works when he talks about fire touching the skin, she does a back bend and ignores him. I just can't imagine doing that ont he east coast and getting a positive response.

I'm from NY originally and spent many years of my life there. My general experience is that people on the west coast are far more outward. It's obvious from how she is smiling and performing it doesn't hurt. I get what you're saying... and, no matter how you slice it, press is press. this art form is only going to expand when more people know about it. I'm aware that we drew more people to the show because of the spot including at least one photographer who took some great photos. :)
