After moving the fuel tank forward 150mm, lightening the engine bearers and removing the muffler, it was time for another test day. Lousy overcast day may have been an omen? I also had a little more throw on the rudder and quickly learnt that fast left hand turns had to be negotiated a little more gently as you will see. 360's no sweat!
The day ended very abruptly after misjudging how close I was running to the bank. Damage: Deck and hull let go completely across the front as well as down one sponson. A new 150mm rudder was also written off as the impact tore a 3/16" shaft out of the rudder as well as shearing the hardened pin in 2 pieces! Live and learn!!
Hope to have it back on the water next weekend after I move the tank back 50mm and re-glass the deck back on. A few more tweaks here and there and I hope to see even more of the rooster tail! It was only throwing one as it ran away from our boat into the wind. Still not enough lift in the stern.
