Makes me think of the John Krakauer book "Under the banner of heaven". In that book he discribes some murders from Mormon fundametalist.
Also he said in the interview on Dutch tv that he had a depression where he thought he was the anti-christ. Someone to watch for...
On the other hand he seemed a nice and good person who has just some trouble fighting his demons.

I think what he was saying about the song is that people are capable of doing cruel and terrible things and that a lot of people, including him, are ready to do pretty much anything their church asks them to do. I saw that show, too. Immediately fell in love with this song. As the credits rolled, I went online and ordered the album Drums And Guns. Just got it yesterday. It's great.
