The 2009 Virginia Triple Ironman

Sam Pasceri during The Virginia Triple Ironman. This event constist of a 7.2 mile swim, 336 miles of cycling & 78.6 miles of running to be done non-stop in under 60 hours. With approximately 6 miles left my lower legs started to retain fluid. My shins turned purple and red from the pounding on the asphalt. During those last 6 miles I would have to stop every 2 miles to have the water pushed up from my ankles so I could continue to run (well, trot...OK, speedwalk?). I've never been in more pain in my life but, at the same time I never felt so good. I met some of the best people at this event and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. The journey to get here was long and I paid the price but, I look foward to returning next year.

I can only imagine what it took to get to the race. Training alone must have been insane. Great job!
