Rangers 7 v 1 Dundee United - The Return of Barry Ferguson

Barry Ferguson made a welcome return to Rangers as they destroyed Dundee United 7-1 to reach the final of the league cup. Nacho Novo and Dado Prso combined to give Rangers a 2-0 half-time lead but Dundee United fought back at the start of the second half and looked like making Novo pay for missing a penalty when Jason Scotland scored. Jim McIntyre then struck both posts with a 30 yard effort but soon after Thomas Buffel scored his first goal for the club and Rangers were set for victory. Fernando Ricksen curled in a free-kick minutes after the return of Ferguson and he setup Nacho Novo for his second goal while fellow substitute Steven Thompson added two further goals to seal the comfortable victory.
