reply to jaroknll: Clark didn't propose a theory of this elevator it was a hypothesis, a guess. The interviewed physicist proposed a true theory, with all the math, physics, procedures and requirements worked out.

The guy said he started developing it 7-8 years ago. Arthur C. Clarke wrote a Scifi book about one in 1981 (The Fountains of Paradise). So the theory is nothing new. Maybe it wasn't even then. Of course it's great that someone is actually trying to achieve it. :)

not really, do you really think engineers listen to highschool dropouts who spend all day on youtube? well if you mean in "general", then I do agree, negative people slow down or try to stop positive people.
