This is an extract of the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, played by Boudewijn Zwart at Zuiderkerk Amsterdam. Curious is the 'historic' manual of this carillon, the metal parts make a lot of noise during playing.

  • Thank God it sounds better from the outside than from the inside... but it looks like a great workout!

  • It's remarkable that Boudewijn Zwart can concentrate on the music while playing this instrument -- the keyboard action really is this loud relative to the sound!

  • He's a remarkable man and a fantastic musician.

If not just a little eccentric.

  • Geweldig :)

  • Doesn't he get deaf in there of all that clicking of the keyboard?:P

  • Wow..

playing this song on the piano is hard enough...

    but on the carillon???

    chapeau!

  • I think I'll stick to English change-ringing; we just do rounds and bobs - far less complicated!
