This video was taken mid to end of July at minimal physical activity. When uploading to you tube it was sep. 21 2010 and I have bee back to full activities. Weight lifting(no squats still afraid ha), soccer, surfing, biking. Bowel movements are 4-8. Usually 4-5 throughout the day then around 2 before bed. I have been fortunate to not have to wake up at night to BM. The urgency of ulcerative colitis is gone and I would say that and no stomach pain are my greatest appreciations of the surgery.
I still have a very light amount of blood in stool (GI knows and there are solutions). My test that i talked about turned out to be cuffitis, as of now nightly solid suppository called canasa (bullet). Not a problem at all and dosage might decrease but way better than 20 pills a day. No other medication :). It is a continuous journey mentally and physically but if you have any concerns feel free to contact. Good luck. Much Love!

  • Cool man, your video helped inspire me to go through with surgery! Thats awesome you only had the bag six weeks and returned to soccer! How did your season go? Did you notice any dehydration issues?

  • @gators4orever Season went good I had a slow start cuz of injuries b/c I tried to push to hard before getting into shape at that level of activity. My team was great I would wear a bib so nobody would hit me for the first 3 weeks. No dehydration issues. Seems like you would without a colon but I havent had any issues. I just had my yearly sigmoidoscopy and everything has healed up I just have one staple still hanging in there that might be causing some blood.(Docs dont want to tough)

  • dude...you are awesome. Great positive attitude! You definitely gave me some inspiration to get surgery. I was diagnosed when I was 18 and have had an ileostomy for 4 years. I might have the option to get a ileorectal anastomosis which is where they hook your ileum back to your rectum if there is enough there. Second best option would be ileoanal anastomosis which is hooked to the anus instead of the rectum. I have been prolonging it but I think it is time. Thanks again man.

  • @dirus08 I say give it a shot :)

  • Thank you so much for posting this. It's extremely brave and you have a fantastic attitude. The pictures at the end were so helpful too. Our adventures with UC were almost exactly the same, pain,C Diff, enemas,Remicade, what seemed like a billion pills a day. I just got the 1st and 2nd surgery but had a ton of complications. I'm excited for my take down but a little nervous too. Is the third much easier? Has it been smooth sailing or have you had issues with the jpouch too?Hope you're doing well!

  • @gators4orever the doctors would rarher leave it for fear of causing any issues as it should just fall out on it's own. The 1cm of colon left inside to attach everything does have some inflamation but is not causing any urgency at this time. I will be taking suppositories to help it go away. :)

  • @bstock004 Thats great man! Thanks for the explanation, I guess I will have a test before my takedown as well. I still haven't had the jpouch part formed cause they are doing mine in three stages.

  • @bstock004 DR said if no major issues and pouch heals in that six weeks then he would have no problem with takedown then.

The test this by putting liquid in the pouch and doing a scan to see if you have any leaks. I am not sure why some ppl have to wait longer than others you should ask your DR.

Yes my entier colon was infected and the only left 1cm of the 5 feet of large colon.

  • @gators4orever Mine was moderate to severe (I think). The colitis was throughout my entire large colon. Dr said it was completely destoyed when he pulled it out and would not have lasted much longer. I know another person who just had the surgery and did it in 7mo. Ya six weeks is the aboslute min that they will do it in. I was trying to push it so I would have time to train for my last soccer season.

  • Hey bstock, how bad was your colitis was it severe or moderate and did it involve the entire colon? I'm jw cause I just elected to have surgery but mine is a 6 month process and you fortunately were able to complete yours in six weeks somehow
