After an interview at AirVenture 2008, John Travolta was departing in his Boeing 707. On the takeoff roll one of his inboard engines flamed out.

  • Good grief.. it's a 4-engined airliner, and not likely anywhere near MTOW.. The only loss I heard was dollars towards the repair of the engine (provided repairs were needed).

  • Sounds like he had already reached go speed and elected to take off. I wonder if he tried to air start it once he got to level cruise.

  • If im not mistaken, JT3D's are known for that. Abort and try again, no worries those are some tough old engines. love em! These puppys were designed in the 1950's and very closly based to the JT3C thats older yet! Basically a 3C with a fan added, done in a race to overtake the RR Conway, which it did.
