  • Yeah thats not real. The Lancer fucking RUMBLES like the gods have returned when it passes overhead, its very very low base and rumbles for a miles after it passes.

Furthermore at that altitude the "sonic boom" would have been INSTANT and no exhaust would be heard prior to the boom.

Also the sonic boom of this aircraft is used a weapon,it will rupture eardrums at that altitude. I did not see everyone fall to the ground in agony.

    Next.....

  • @BrimstoneMerc the sonic boom is NOT used as a weapon. This jet has to be at a high altitude to pass the sound barrier. STOP MAKING UP FACTS TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK COOL.

  • @foxvw um, no it doesn't, you can go faster then sound at any altitude

  • @foxvw 1.The sonic boom can be a psychological weapon to those who do not know what a sonic boom is 2.The jet can break the sound barrier at low altitude. You are hearing about varying air pressure.

3.YOUR THE ONE MAKING UP FACTS TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK COOL.

  • Buncha geniuses in here...

  • Fake. (I flew top-line jet fighters for 20 years. Not that such experience is necessary to see this is not a supersonic fly-by and boom.)

  • @BrimstoneMerc I think it's one of those things were it could be used, in theory...but it's a pretty weak theory. A B-1B on a strike mission either stays away and launches cruise missiles, or it makes one pass over the target to drop bombs. You could blast areas on the way in, but usually they avoid urban areas, and for the main target, you get one pass; blasting it with a sonic boom and coming back over again would be suicide. Maybe for cowing insurgents, but it's still risky.

  • @justforever96 Yeah, I was thinking of the SR-71. Whatever, the B-1B is still not meant to used as a sonic boom weapon.

  • @justforever96 Strangely enough I was told this by a few B1 pilots at an air show at McDill AFB. I was told the use as a weapon was largely phychological as it can flown over hostile areas at just over Mach 1 at just a few hundred AGL by the terrain following radar and auto pilot. I am quoting the pilots and its a good 15 years old, maybe even a bit of bullshit or just plans that where never implemented. I am not a B1 pilot or crew chief nor am I a forum warrior.

  • Actually you can break the sound barrier at sea level, it is just at a faster airspeed, the higher you go the less dense the air gets and the temperature drops, and the speed of sound is at a lower airspeed.

  • @BrimstoneMerc You're right about the fact that you can't hear a supersonic aircraft coming and that the sonic boom would have been instant, but I'd like to see some substantiation that the sonic boom is "used as a weapon" (or I assume that's what you meant to type). I've never heard of such a thing, and I don't see why they would risk a multi-million dollar bomber than can carry dozens of cruise missiles on a mission to blow out a bunch of windows within range of shoulder-launched missiles.
