Hot Rod Magazine took the two best Shelby vehicles of all time, the 427 Cobra and the new 2011 GT500 Super Snake, to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to find out which is the baddest ever.
Rob Kinnan from Hot Rod and Gary Patterson from Shelby North America race each car on the road course and the drag strip to see which is fastest in the different disciplines. Carroll Shelby tells why he created the Super Snake and shares what his favorite is!
Look for the full feature in the May 2011 issue of Hot Rod Magazine...it is a must see.

  • Shelby says the 5.4 is the best american engine ever built. I wonder what he has to say about the new 5.8 coming out next year.

  • 0:47 The car even came itself...

  • AC = Auto Craft, a British sports car manufacturer in the 60's, for anyone who's interested ....

  • You rarely see any 427 cobras anymore. Too many old timers keep them in their garage along with 100 other rare muscle cars that never see the road.

  • my first ride in a cobra my leg brushed against the exhaust plate and i got a 2nd degree burn after the first second i touched it. sick ride, though.

  • to much weight on the supersnake

  • @taypuc31 Because the car from the 60s, is British, and therefore can actually handle.

  • @martintt52 One modern American pile of awfulness, one classic British sports car,

  • @9992103 Shelby *say*. That says it all. I say the best American engine ever was the Buic 215, otherwise know as the base for the legendary Rover V8 (which was actually different in almost every way, but still).

  • @67ShelbyMustang500 Actually, AC (The owner and manufacturer of the Cobra, until some prat decided that they, the ones whos car it was [developed from the AC Ace] actually didn't own it) ran cars with removable hard tops. If peaople actually gave credit to those who deserved it, they'd know the other options available. You could still buy AC Cobras, after Shelby threw his tantrum and stole the name, but they weren't labelled Cobra. Same car though.

  • What? I see a Shelby pile of plastic, and an AC Cobra. One is a modified Ford, the other is a British sports car, that had some development input from Carol Shelby. specifically, he found, a nice light V8, where AC had tried big heavy ones. ACs car, ACs idea, Shelby just linked the two. That does not give him the right to claim the car as his own, no matter how much he helped change, and whoever handed him the rights to the name was an idiot and should be shot. Fucking Americans, it's not yours!
