First this is your typical "Anti-Catholic" Propaganda, in whom people make a living from. Just like how many catholic theologians and apologists make there living off from "Anti-Protestantism" Propaganda. The liturgical time for "Lent" is not only celebrated by catholics, but anglicans, orthodox and some Lutherans. Jesus was in the wilderness fasting for 40 days!, Bible recommends fasting from things for a period. You need to get your facts straight.

It's the priest who proclaims, "Lent is a Catholic thing" - that is a 'Roman thing.' They have, by 'missionary adaptation' spread far and wide their deliberate indoctrination of the world.
