It is roughly satire. They are not encouraging it. They are pointing out that we hold in high reguard those who are, models such as are pictured here.
Much like jesters they point our our social ills in a humurous manner and make us look at ourselves as a society and think twice. (see lyrics comparing anorexia to death+pics)
imo anyhow : )
