I picked up this Dialight 430-6479-001F Countdown Pedestrian Signal at a surplus store in Florida last year and thought it would be cool to get it working and mount it in my house.

I used a BASIC Stamp II with EFK-TEK RC-4 SSR board to switch on and off the four control lines (AC hot) from the independent icon and timer modules on the signal. Upon power-up, the countdown timer enters a "learning phase." The timer is programmed by flashing the Upraised Hand icon (whose hot is joined with a hot of the timer module). During the learning phase, the timer side is blank. On subsequent cycles, the correct countdown time is displayed.

More information, including BS2 source code, is available at http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/countdown-pedestrian-signal/
