  • this song is dark... but has a moral...

it describes how fifteen men got drunk after finding a treasure, and died, killing each other over the treasure.

then the crew singing finds it, and shares it equally.

then they find a woman, who had probably let a man try to 'take advantage' of her, and killed him, but was then killed herself.

the crew singing then wraps the dead bodies in a sail, and casts them overboard.

    the moral? sharing is good.

  • 15 Men On The Dead Man's Chest And The Bottle Of Rum! Those 30 Dislikers They Were Looking For Dead Men's Chest And They Found Nothink :D

  • History lesson: This was called a sea shanty which is a song that sailors would sing to keep themselves from going mad when they did their jobs which their jobs were pretty much the same over and over every day.

Sorry I had to say that because my american history teacher told us that yesterday.

  • @lolxDpenis Me and my roommate used to rock this stuff out all the time beating @ss in xfire!!! Too bad no one likes to play anything but dota anymore.

  • @Slavezero9 dude the moral is if your a pirate never put down your sword

  • A pirates love song

  • @lvladikov -- "The Derelict" is the name of the original poem. The Artist is The Jolly Rogers."

  • I am the main vocalist on this recording. The artist is The Jolly Rogers. The song was originally released in 1993 on our album "Where The Hell Are We?" and was re-released on our 1997 compilation "Pirates Gold." I wrote the melody to this version in the summer of 1993. Our website is chivalry.com/jollyrogers. See more info about this song on Wikipedia.

  • @notsofunnyperson123 its my favorit book EVER!!!! XD

  • @gnut5 I gues, You have the song as it was sung in the movie "Tresure Island". The artists must be named in the credits.

  • @Slavezero9 But it could also be talking about the island Dead Chest Island, AKA, Dead Man's Chest. Rumor has it that Blackbeard marooned some of his men there with only a cutlass and a bottle of run each. Only a few got off alive because they'd killed each other.
