  • hey i am working on a product shot at the moment and this has been extremely helpful.. thanks a lot

  • @07719376561 No sweat, glad to be of help!

  • just use the png format man...it will help for the transparent texture..dont need to worry about the complex things

  • @jithinroshh Yep PNG format works well too!

  • Good intro into transparency maps.. However, using this method gives a white border around the opaque part of the transparency. I could have sworn there was a node to add and tweak in Maya that eliminates that halo. I'm working on a project right now where I'm stuck with that white border... (antialiasing and feather is turned off in Photoshop). Any ideas?

  • @staticenz Sometimes I solve this by...checking the texture attributes in Maya and looking at the filtering type it's set to. Also, making sure the background color matches as close as possible to the visible part of the texture.

  • and i just figured out why targas sometimes dont work for me, lol thanks

  • i love youuuuuu!

  • Thank you!

  • Anybody knows a way to be able to change the polygon's background color instead of making it invisible? I was using max to apply the OZ Racing logo on a rim I made, yet I could still mess with the rim's color and see the logo too. What's the freakin' way to do this into maya???

  • Staticenz, I really need to see an image to see what the issue is. It may be an issue of UV 0-1 borders (1 pixel row of texture can show up on geometry edges). It may also be the actual color channel of the texture having a white background...and a bleeding of that white around the edges of the alpha channel.
