I COMPLETELY agree with the Game Overthinker. I'm getting so sick of these gritty shooters. I want something different!

There's nothing new under the sun. But you can present it in entertaining combinations.

Considering that I actually like a lot of modern games (ninja gaiden sigma 2, devil may cry 4 etc.) I was expecting to disagree with everything you just said, however, THIS is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I've been talking to my gamer friends about and they keep telling me I'm fucking crazy, glad to know I'm not the only one. I mean, the whole EA re-release issues, the character designs (Master Chief, Marcus Phoenix etc), the general Gameplay (FPS, RPG, easy beat em'up or a hybrid of those).

amen to that, we need more inventiveness in games outside of Nintendo platforms, I think Little Big Planet was a step in the right direction, but there definitely needs to be an originality rennaisance.

Monkey Chief?  I have that say, that would be an awesome game. A third person shooter where you play a space commando monkey. His opponent can be the Mandasaury Rex.

And yeah, you're right on the robot arm hate. Link used a pastrami-sized Hookshot and still kicked ass.
