We present here the grand cultural project of the last decade for the small island nation of Godzone. The Queen Dagobert Arts Council of Godzone has invested the nation's entire arts budget into filming the Great Godzone Novel "The Vintner's Duck". This is enough to pay for the title character to be played by a sock puppet. The film-makers demonstrate great artistic integrity by using a pink sock - thereby remaining true to the writer's intention that the duck is gay.
Writer Elizabeth Equinox, who has been critical of earlier film adaptations of her work, is pleased with this production. "A gay duck needs a gay movie and that is what these film-makers have given us. My thanks to them."
Always-Emerging Film-maker J.P. Calder was inspired to become involved as producer after listening to a radio interview with director Niki Tall-Poppy. Calder says "I cried out: 'A.K.Grant! McPhail! Gadsby! Gibson! The Onion! Where are you now that we need you?!' I can but step up in this hour of need to emulate these role models."

Back in the real world, we really like the book behind all this and we freely give it a plug. It is "The Vintner's Luck" by Elizabeth Knox.
"The Queen Dagobert Arts Council of Godzone" is a satirical idea from (we believe) the work of the late A.K. Grant.
"Godzone" is commonly used by New Zealand comedians to refer to NZ or parodies of NZ. The source is poet and politician Thomas Bracken who described NZ as "God's Own Country".
awesome thanks.
