My army basic training was just like this movie at fort sill but worse except I didn't get my head thrown into a chalk board but fuck man i'm glad its over. The movies don't do the seriousness of basic training justice. It really is hell and everybody questions why the fuck they signed up when they go thru it. My drill sergeant was an asshole all the way to the end. 10 weeks of hell, I was told 9 but then I got to basic after a week of reception and they were like welcome to week zero.... fuck.

@MrPs103 The reason the first week or two of Boot Camp is utter chaos is that they are weeding out those that can not perform reliably under stress. In fact there is very little but rather creative physical stress, however anyone getting there could perform easily. It is the mental aspect that gets to people. Suddenly people don't know their left from their right, they can't count in sequence. Where the mind goes, the body will follow.
