the stranger deals with the view that, from the perspective of a detached observer, no cause of action is of any more value than another - thus we face anxiety. While in prison, the character Meursault does two things - first reject all forms of salvation and assumes complete responsibiltiy for his acts, but also comes to realise the nature of society that aims to create the illusion of meaning. In the novel Meursault is transitionary - from nihilist to absurdist - not stagnant.

Had to give tis a thumbs down i'm affraid. The description of the Stranger is slightly incorrect, while the idea that Camus was a tragic individual and therefore never able to grasp life's meaning is also misleading - Camus argued that life had no meaning (or a meaning beyond our understanding), but he argued that we should face that in a positive way. He had something to live for - what he termed "rebellion against the absurd" - ie: the rejection of nihilism and of created meaning.
