We really can't change anyone's sexual orientation.
I think that there should be no problem between religion and homosexuality.

@writerJerome - I had a respectful reply to send, but you have locked that down.

he's still gay

@fgbowen Everyone would be glad to let SB be, but he goes from admitting "being gay is not a choice" and "you can't pray away the gay" to preaching that everyone who is gay is damaged goods who has failed to make the proper choice that he did. The contradiction and cruelty in his claim is outrageous. His wife picks on transgender people in crude terms, "chopping off body parts" but those people don't insist everyone else be like them, as SB does. He makes his living trashing gays.

Stephen Bennett is "Ex-Gay for Pay." His "anecdotal evidence" is not evidence at all. He is likely living a double-life. I saw this thousands of times in the ex-gay movement. His claims contradict every study ever published in a peer-reviewed scientific or medical journal. If you don't believe it, just ask yourself, "Could I make myself turn from straight to gay?" Of course not. Same thing for gays.

@josephsalchemy You are totally right. I was everything the guy in the video was not. My family kept saying, "You can't be gay. You are good at sports." That made me laugh. What made me sad was when my sister said, "You are such a loving person, so dedicated to your faith, to helping homeless people, to encouraging everyone you know, you are kind and patient and loving, too bad you're going to hell." Now she realizes how insane that was.

@fgbowen How would you respond to a video claiming everyone like you was sick and evil? When some atheists call all people of faith fools and ignorant sheep, doesn't that make you want to explain that there are many wonderful Christians? Conservatives like to complain when someone does not grant them "top dog" status, but they don't see they are demeaning an entire minority group of people, millions of who are fellow Christians. see Gay Christian Network

@fgbowen To take my life lessons as "defensive" is to ignore the harm being done by those who keep telling the lies that homosexual people are damaged goods. We aren't. We are just as God made us. God makes homosexuality in Nature. Of 1,600 species studied, ALL have some small percentage of homosexuality in them. Being gay is a gift from God. Modern medicine is unanimous that sexual orientation is not chosen and not changeable at will. Stephen Bennett is 'EX-GAY FOR PAY.'

@josephsalchemy - Absolutely JC speaks of un-c love. But I would say this - Let SB be who he is. Let him Be. And there so many factors in sexual development that it is astounding. Let people Be who they are. There is no Gay gene - but people do not Choose to be Gay. Life is complex.
What a complete fool! Keep blaming your mama for "becoming"gay. My father raised my two brother and I exactly the same way and I miraculously came out gay... yippee! People like Stephen Bennett are not spreading the word of God. He's just spreading ignorance and self-hatred. Doesn't Jesus speak of unconditional love?
