@Heil2me1942 True. Another thing is that IMHO the quality of both the German and Russian soldiers back then was by todays standards superhuman. I don`t think many soldiers in the West today could have tolerated the conditions faced by the soldiers on the Eastern Front. They were a tougher generation than todays young adults.

@hmwm67 Fighting in the cold is a bitch, fighting in Vietnam with temperaures of 118F with extreme humidity can kill U faster than anything. U can't hide from the heat. With extreme cold U get to the point its so cold both sides cannot fight. There is not one doubt that USMC fighting the Japanese in the Solomons, Iwo Jima, Phillipines and other jungle battles had no equal for inhuman fighting conditions with Malaria, Bar-Bari, Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever + other tropical diseases.
