'Ivory Queen of Soul' Teena Marie Dies at 54

Teena Marie, who made history as Motown's first white act but developed a lasting legacy with her silky soul pipes and with hits like "Lovergirl," "Square Biz," and "Fire and Desire" with mentor Rick James, has died. She was 54. (Dec. 26)

Teena Marie a.k.a. Lady Tee didn't pass away from drug abuse on Sunday Dec.26, 2010, a year and 3 days ago and yes I miss hearing GOD given talent. She died in her sleep from a grand mal seizure from an accident that happened to her back in 2004 when a painting hit her in her head while she was sleeping in her hotel room. Then later on a sub zero refrigerator fell on her also. She did get addicted to Vicodin but went cold turkey off of it. She was a LADY then and now HOME with GOD.

Teena Marie, broke the color barrier in a way. I love the fact she was white with a gift of serious, serious soul. She was an icon of the 80's and a icon of music. It's too bad we lost her and Rick to the sickness and the abuse of drugs which eventually took them. Imgaine, if their lives were cleaner, they could still be here today performing the gift given. Prince is a good example of just taking care of yourself....at least a little....Prince, the last of the old school soldiers. RIP TM.
