The answer is: not really. I saw this title appear on the Playstation store just recently and felt compelled to check it out... on the PC via a Playstation emulator, which makes the "HD" res possible.
It's not a bad port, but the PC-DOS version has better visuals (textures, effects) and a better control scheme provided by the mouse.
Never understood why FPS games are being released for consoles when you don't have a mouse and keyboard for controlling. Saturn version looks little bit closer to PC, because of clouds at least. This looks rather crap even though graphics never were the main focus in this game. If there would be MC3 it would propably suck, but interesting ideas would be to include day / night transitions within a level and perhaps aurora borealis and such. In MC2 there are night and day levels, but separately.
@Kreatur84 Kid, how old are you?... Don't so damningly of things you know nothing about. Go back to your Call of Duty or Halo or whatever the fuck you sprogs are playing nowadays & leave constructive criticism to us grown ups.
I just bought a copy of this, but it is for the Sega Saturn. A very unusual title for a highly unlikely console. It's not pretty, but the atmosphere is deffinatly there.
I used to have both Playstation and DOS versions. I really appreciated the fact that viewing the map also paused the game, as it gave me the opportunity to take a calm look at everything without having a wyvern suddendly blow my ass off because of distraction. Spell selection and controls however were terribly awkward, and I hated the Playstation flags too. On the other hand, I sometimes experienced glitches with the DOS version and was glad that the awful level 33 was finally removed.
General rule of thumb for ports is that the original development platform will usually be the best version. Looks like the situation is no different here.
Thanks for posting this, though, I've been wondering how the PS1 version turned out. I already have the PC version, but have been thinking about throwing down a couple bucks for the PSN version just for shits and grins. Looks like it turned out ok in the end.

I always thought the graphics in this game were crap, even for it's time.

The main rule is this game is still a classic, even on the playstation.
