FireDragonTanya, I don't care for Psychiatrists either. And that sucks about your bf. But ask yourself this: if his diagnosis takes away all his resposibility for his behavior, isn't that a cop out? In the long run does that really help him with his problems? Lots of people struggle in life, but who benefits from turning away from lifes struggles and saying I have no control because it is biological or genetic? You can stay numb with drugs only so long. That shit catches up with you real fast.

@Hady8771 That's a lot of big words that mean nothing. First of all read the recent studies exposing the fact that it is the antipsychotic drugs being prescribed which cause brain atrophy. There are NO proven brain abnormalities in any patient who is drug naive. Period. Secondly alzheimer is plaque on the brain evidence at autopsy making it a MEDICAL condition, not psychiatric. A test determines whether a physical abnormality exists. Quite simply, name the proven test (neurobiological, x-ray, genetic, your choice) which conclusively proves who does or does not have a mental disorder. Anything else is simply speculation.
