OPEN TRAY ERROR FIX, Xbox 360 Part 2/2 for Hitachi GDR3120L

This is part 2/2 series, shows you how to solve the OPEN TRAY ERROR permanently without replacing the drive and/or cleaning the lens.

Since I fixed this my Xbox has been working gr8.

Tools used in this tutorial:
- Phillips screw driver standard size (get one that has many sizes for electronics)
- Any lubricant (I used WD 40)
- Patience
- What's left of the Almonds from Part 1

*CAUTION*
DON'T SPRAY TOO MUCH, JUST A LITTLE.
USE A GAME THAT YOU'RE OK WITH GETTING WD40 ON, AFTER ABOUT 3 DAYS OF GAMING, IT WON'T AFFECT THE DISC EVEN IF HAS WD 40 ON IT, BUT JUST TO BE SAFE. THEN ONCE YOU SEE NO MORE RESIDUE IS ON THE DISC , THEN PUT YOUR FAVORITE GAME IN AND YOU'RE GOOD TO GO.

This is a response to the comments I received about it not working. Allow me to explain the main problems with open tray error: There could be several reasons for it, Laser not clean, voltage tweaking, and failed motor to name a few. The most common is a failed motor, since you are playing xbox non stop, it's bound to fail, it's an electric motor after all. I'm talking about the main spindle that goes in the hole in the Cd. When u r having problems pertaining to failed motor, u r out of options, you have already tried cleaning laser, tapping the thing, pushing drive in and out, different games, updating Xbox, etc... In this case, your only option is to replace the drive right? So last resort is to use a little bit of lubricant inside the spindle, to make it easier for the poor old motor to spin. The different Cases (for motor)
1. For some, the motor just needed that push and is back on his feet spinning like a clown.
2. For others it may be a little while, he'll spin but then tire and fail.
3.For others he is already gone.

Most cases are number 1, because your xbox is usually two years in, warranty is expired. But it's not dead yet, so a little bit of lubricant will usually do the trick. So check out my video, try it out, u got nothing to lose, your dvd drive is already dead. Now if IT DOESN'T WORK, you are left with buying a replacement drive. they are usually cheap $30 CAD off of ebay. I will be posting a video and LINKING HERE, as soon as I get a dvd drive in for my second xbox, and I will show you the proper procedure of replacing drive, it's not that simple, there are a few steps to check.

just to say.. i lubed up the motor, lubed up the rods that the "lazer" runs on , and cleaned the lens with alcohol. could have been any of these... but my xbox working perfectly now. and i didnt even wait 20 minutes before turning it on. i did disessemble the disc drive so i could lube up the motor. just unscrewed the motor and lubed it and turrned it a lot until it felt smooth.... giggity.
