Although he says a thetan could operate two bodies at the same time (I think that's what your'e confusing with "going back in time"), the thetan would experience them as two seperate life times, one chronologically before the other, and the thetan wouldn't be aware of it. It's absolutely insane of course, but it is logically consistent. It was, after all, all written by a science fiction writer.

So he impregnated Mary, while masturbating trhough the bushes by the river she was bathing in and thus created the most vile creature the Universe has ever seen which is his son - Jesus Christ. Later on he went back in time and tried to reason with Jesus but Jesus beat the crap outta him and created an elaborate plan to keep people's souls confused and enslaved in a dreamlike time loop for all eternety.

Why doesn't he just go back in time and stab his past self before he jizzes in that river?
