Chapter 21! sry it took so long!
As the girls rushed over to the other side of the main house, they found Kevin and Nick waiting for them. Under the sun, they seemed to be one their selves, melting the girls into jell-o with their hotness. Unfortunately, they wore T-shirts over their board shorts. Darn it, the girls thought.
"Hey," Nick said, running his hand through his hair (which made Maddy and Gabby melt even more and almost evaporate into thin air) "Frankie was sleepy so we had to leave him back in the cottage. He said he'll get changed and come down when he's up"
Nick laughed.
"Hey," Maddy smiled, "So where's Joe and Mikhayla?"
"Yeah, I'd really like to meet her" Olivia asked, trying to hide the fact she was super anxious.
"Really, REALLY like to meet her," Briana teased, as Olivia playfully glared at her.
Kevin and Nick looked at each other, then looked back at the girls.
"Down by the shore" Kevin answered, as he pointed down at two deckchairs lined up next to each other.
Two figures were sitting on them, and though the girls couldn't quite make out what they were doing, they seemed to be laughing and having a good time.
Olivia kicked off her flip flops, rolled her shoulders, and ran down to the two with a huge smile on her face.
"Scary," Maddy mumbled, as the rest widened their eyes and nodded in agreement.
Gabby walked over to Nick, and put her arm around his waist.
Nick looked down at Gabby with a smile, put his hand around her shoulders and squeezed them.
"Come on, let's go!" Briana said, as she grabbed Kevin's hand and rushed after Olivia's footprints.
The others followed after them, kicking the warm sand under their feet with every step.
"Joeeeee!" Olivia called, running while waving her hand in the air.
Two smiling faces peaked between the deckchairs.
"Hey Olivia," Joe said.
"Hi," a girl with a cute smile in pink polka-dotted bikinis offered her right hand "I'm Mikhayla"
"Olivia," she introduced herself, taking the hand "Nice to meet you"
"So YOU're Olivia!" Mikhayla said, giggling with excitement as if she had longed to meet the girl standing in front of her "Joseph has told me so much about you!"
Joseph, Olivia thought to herself. Now WHY didn't I think of calling him that? It sounds so much more we've-been-friends-for-longer-than-you-have than just 'Joe'.
"Heyyy" Nick said, as he and the others caught up.
"Oh my gosh!" Mikhayla shrieked "Nicholas! Kevin! It's SO nice to see you again!"
Mikhayla exchanged hugs with the boys, as she repeated 'Oh my gosh!"
Then she turned to the girls, with an ever-so kind smile.
"Hi," Mikhayla said, holding out her right hand "I'm Mikhayla."
Gabby, Maddy, and Briana each introduced themselves, and took turns shaking Mikhayla's hand.
"She seems nice," Maddy whispered, to Olivia.
"You never know," Olivia answered, clenching her teeth.
She was stared at Mikhayla, but all she saw was a nice, sweet girl.
"You never know," Olivia repeated to herself.
"So who's ready to have fun?" Mikhayla clapped her hands together.
Everyone cheered, as they kicked their shoes off and jumped up and down in the sand that burned their feet.
Beside the deckchairs Joe and Mikhayla were sitting on, there were boogie-boards, tubes, Frisbees, towels, and more deckchairs stacked up in a pile, enough for each of them.
"Who's up for boogie-boarding?" Joe exclaimed, picking up a dark blue board with a shark printed on it.
Everyone cheered as they each grabbed a board -- except for Mikhayla.
"Actually... As embarrassing this is, considering I practically live on the beach," She said, blushing "I can't boogie board" She paused for a second, and continued "I only water-ski"
"Nothing's wrong with that," Gabby shrugged "I do a triple roll-over when I hit the shore, almost every single time!"
Everyone laughed, including Mikhayla.
"You know what, Mikhayla?" Joe said, handing Mikhayla a board "I could teach you!"
Olivia was about to gasp, but contained herself since she didn't want to sound rude.
"Are you sure?" Mikhayla asked, hesitating to take the board "I mean, I wouldn't want to stop you from having fun just because of me."
"This will be fun," Joe answered "And you could teach me water-skiing later in repayment."
Mikhayla laughed "Okay," She said, then took the board.
"C'mon, let's go!" Joe tugged on Mikhayla's hand as they rushed off into the water.
"I can't believe it," Olivia's mouth hung open as she watched the two go.
"I know," Briana snorted "She can't boogie-board? I mean come-awn, keep up with the world, girl!"
"You know what I mean," Olivia said, lightly punching Briana's arm.
Briana patted Olivia on the head twice to let her know she perfectly understood, then ran off after Joe and Mikhayla's footsteps.
"Last one there skinny dips!" She shouted without stopping or turning back.
All of them ran after her, screaming and shoving each other out of the way, while Joe and Mikhayla were alone together.
