No, not similar at all. Qur'anic chants are bound by phonological rules and NOT musical rules. When the Qur'an is recited, there is no set "melody," and he does so alone (not with multiple voices). What you are hearing that makes them sound similar is that this chant is done in the Eastern/Byzantine music scales that have intervals that are different from the diatonic scales you are used to hearing in Western music. While the Greek and the Arabic scales are different, they are related.
