his dynamics and phrasing suck, and he's always sharp in the higher octaves. but then again, I haven't played in the Berlin Phil like he has lol

Wonderful! I've just listened to a few other versions of this piece and this one is the most perfect for me. But it's worth listening to the recorder versions too.

Bach presented a big technical problem - a chain of uninterrupted semiquavers. On top of this, it is importnat to understand the form of this work and its integration of harmony and polyphony. When the understanding of the latter is absent, the interpretation tend to be disconnected, as was this case. I am not sure, whether other instrumentalists [strings, keyboard] with much grater tradition would be willing to accept such disconnected performance of a basically Preludium form.

I'm not a huge fan of the way he went about the phrasing. I mean it makes sense how he used so many smaller phrases; it allows for a better tone and overall better sound because of having more air.

It just my personal opinion here :P
