No one seems to be mentioning the appropriate codec for CamStudio on Vista; there was one user who used DivX Pro and it seemed to have been stable enough to record - can anyone confirm this?

What is amazing is that the solution sat in that "Compatibility" tab. I put Camstudio directly onto my memory stick, and now I can "adjust it" to any computer I like by simply changing the compatibility mode. I'm really grateful for your video - thank you for showing how simple the solution was. I love using Camstudio; I couldn’t bear the thought of not having it on Vista or Windows 7.

Same here. I used to use hypercam and it worked fine until I downloaded Hypercam3.

I have a really weird problem. I can get CamStudio to work fine until I try to record something. It doesn't record anything; it just sits there on the "0 seconds recorded" screen and does nothing. And when I stop, it doesn't even attempt to save. Do you know anywhere that I could get some help for this problem?

Under "Options" menu, make sure "Do Not Record Audio" is not checked. "Record Audio From Speakers" does not always work. Are you using a microphone? If so, make sure the microphone volume is up (Click on the speaker icon in your taskbar [by the clock]and make sure your Mic Input is not muted. If none of this helps, please reply for more advanced solutions.

Sounds like a codec problem. Try changing the codec used for encoding ( Options, Video Options, Compressor) to a different codec.
