Ron McAndrew, a former prison warden in Florida, once supported the death penalty. His experience with those condemned to die - in particular, an execution gone wrong - eventually led him away from this support. Today Mr. McAndrew speaks out against the death penalty to anyone willing to listen.

  • @fuhmeregan - Do the victims of murders have a rights or sympathy? of course, but people who have been condemned to die on behalf of the state have victims too..his/her family, as a 12 year old girl from Texas once said "There killing my daddy because he killed a person, so who do we get to kill?" do you understand? the murders family is just as innocent as the victims family, let me ask..if you had a son or daughter on death row would you still support the capital punishment? i think not.

  • ...and that is exactly why you don't. You are no different than the murderous freaks who sit on Death Row.

  • the death penalty is state sponsored terrorism and murder

  • @iphone3gs2208 iphone. u are so right on. ty for supporting our military and ty for your brothers that defend my country. tell them thnx. nobody likes war and death. but there are consequences to attacking our country as you said. japan thought they would walk in and take america. they had a surprise coming. i hate that the bomb was used but war is war and they were not sorry for coming and killing american people on our shore line in 1941. or 911.

  • @iphone3gs2208 ty iphone. i agree with you. a rabid dog will bite and kill again. the title of human is given to us when we live according to societal rules and morality and do not harm others. when a person enjoys harming others they must be put down. they serve no further good to mankind and are not to be trusted. they deserve to give their life if they take a life. also, i don't care to feed, house, cloth & give medical to these murderers that would gladly kill a child of mine one day.

  • @TBAKC well when they have to walk into the chamber to receive the death penalty u can imagine the fear and suffering they encounter. also good chance they will have further judgement when we as a society are done judging them according to law. the problem i have is at what point might one of these be let out of prison and take the life of someone i love. if they are executed they can no longer hurt others . it removes the threat and worry.

  • if i had a child on death row i would still support the death penalty. if someone is capable of brutal crime then they are like a rabid dog and should be put down. if they are vicious and do not deserve the title of human being which is defined by our social norms and morality then they should not be given rights. they take a life and can no long be trusted . a tax payer has the right to say i will not pay for house, food, clothes, medical, and tv for a murderer. it is our choice.

  • I have such mixed feelings about the death penalty.

I sometimes think that they should only execute child killers.

Like if you're over 18 and you kill someone under 18.

  • Son of a bitch murdererssss

  • @TBAKC you are on target sir! i agree with you 100 percent..

  • The death penalty is wrong. We need a more badass death penalty like being thrown in a cage with wolves or buried alive. Maybe then people wouldn't do the crime.
