the only game to make cry!!!!!! god darn it give ash back and get rid of that wimmpy b boy!

He might be using real instruments now... but it still sounds like typical Motoi Sakuraba, which is unfortunate, if you ask me.
-
@HorrorZombie100 I recognize the melody as the opening yes, but the actual sounds are the stock midi/synth/whatever heard in all of Sakuraba's work. At least then, I hear the guy's finally using real instruments as of Star Ocean 4,

@GuiltlessGear Actually, the composer behind this piece is not Sakuraba, but Motoo Fujiwara, who is also the leader of Bump of Chicken (the band that made Karma, the theme song to TotA). Fujiwara composed about 27 minutes of BGMs for the game, which were released on a seperate OST called "songs for tales of the abyss".

Third entrance (I think) of Tales of the Abyss, quite high up as well.
Goodness gracious...
-
Oh Sakuraba. Your synth brass never fails to dissapoint.
He crafts together these magical pieces, but the delivery falls flat on account of the lack of proper instrumentation. It's frustrating to listen to.
-
now that you mention it, the song reminds me of the decisive battle

We are going to stop this line of discussion right now.
Thank you.
This sounds suspiciously similar to "The Decisive Battle" from Final Fantasy X...

Sorry to say, but I agree with DelusionalZ here.
I am a big Masashi Hamauzu fan and i know for a fact that his song, Decisive Battle, from FF X sounds nothing like this.
I suggest you really check out the FF X song, then listen to this video again and see if they sound as similar as you said.
