III. MORGAUSE
King Arthur's mythical realm of Camelot
Morgause is half-sister of both Morgan le Fay and King Arthur, the latter by whom she conceived Mordred who usurped his father's throne. This song records her attempts to ensnare Arthur, in full knowledge of the future action of their progeny.
The dawn asked not for a dewy kiss, yet thanked the lips.
As thunder echoes lightning's silent cry, there go I.
Our golden threads of kindred yarn upon this sacred loom,
Entwine, enlace, enfold to heaven's linen make,
Our tie to which none can attest.
Your thirsts un-quenched presage disaster,
To bitterness and rage thereafter.
Fear not the deed, but heed denial.
In divine duty at your feet I lay,
A wreath, a scented bloom;
Imbibe the spice.
My King!
