Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Juvenile Pipe Band competing in the Juvenile Championship competition at the World Pipe Band Championships held on 15 August 2009 at Glasgow Green.

The band, under their pipe major Ian Bowden, was placed second in this competition, losing out on an ensemble preference to George Watson's College. However, Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Juveniles are the 2009 European and British Champions.

The tunes are the march Highland Wedding, the strathspey Susan MacLeod and the reel Brown Haired Maid.

The band is wearing the Ancient Hunting Fraser tartan.

As you can see from the opening shot the arena for this competition had become waterlogged after more than a day's continuous heavy rain.

  • I'm a drummer in North America. Where can I find out more about snare drum playing in pipe bands?

  • Very good, particularly impressed by the drumming. A shame about the break between march and spey.

  • fantastic!

  • Brilliant effort there and very unlucky on the day....however GWC were on top of their game.

  • My great regret is not to be bagpiper. What a magnificent instrument !
