  • some of the main reasons why the earlier episodes were so funny was not only about the funny script alone - it was from the interaction of the crew and the watching crowd. I hope it is true and they bring that back on - because this script is VERY good - only the immediate reaction is missing. while watching red dwarf, one always was watching 2 things - the crew AND the audience's reaction to the crew. a double-event of watching, so to speak. that worked. makes you feel part of it all.

  • Where's the laugh track D: 'Booked a double room for him and your electric toothbrush-' *waiting, waiting for it-* 'SILENCE.' Dang. Now I'll have to find a laugh track online and play it after all the jokes to comfort myself...

  • @DaPs166

You should have died on New years eve 1999, you'd have been happier that way.

  • @hartlizel

They assume people are mature enough now to not need a condescending audio track to tell them when a joke/scene was meant to be funny.

You people really have been conditioned, haven't you?

  • Good thing they got rid of that shitty 90s laugh track.

  • @Craydll

You can't laugh at a joke without an audio track telling you when to laugh?

You must be a riot to be around.

  • @Hauntedscotland

Makes you feel part of what? A studio audience? One of the worst things about 90s era sitcoms were the stupid laugh tracks. The thought of watching a show with a bunch of people laughing over it in this day and age is just cringe worthy.

  • Was there a different director? A lot of different angles from the last series'. I prefered the simple one/two camera angles.

  • Where's the laughter

  • @satan666himself He died in the end of Only The Good mate, when he came back to the normal universe and was met by Death. This mini-series, however, seems to play on the idea of the alternate ending where the rest of the Dwarfers also came back form the mirror universe instead with the right formula and saved Red Dwarf before it was too late. Even so, it's still highly likely they didn't return in time to save Rimmer from Death.... Or something along them lines.....

  • @Hauntedscotland Except that for series 8 the cast were OVERACTING to the audience who were whooping and clapping in a sycophantic way. If it came to a choice between pantomime Red Dwarf and filmic Red Dwarf, I'd rather have the latter without audience. It all depends on how series X ends up.

  • OMG, I watched every episode of seasons 1 -8 when they were first aired, but never knew this existed.
